Getting Started

Getting started documents are used to provide additional documentation, know how, guidelines and examples to understand the background of a specific topic.

Similar to FAQs this can be either a top-level category or specific to a product or task.

FAQ

FAQ page is a non-exhaustive list of common questions and contains typical questions asked by a user or customer.

Consider creating a multiple sets of frequently asked questions. The most common can be grouped together as a single category with more specific questions relating to individual sections of the knowledge base. In our example we have a general FAQ section on homepage with another FAQ section for the user manual.

Tutorials

Tutorials describe how to perform a specific operation or task.

The goal of the tutorial is for the user to fully understands the feature and can use it, perform an operation or repeat the task.

Brand Guidelines

Every business needs a consistent brand. Branding defines what your organization is and what
it does.

Presenting your brand in a consistent way is important because it allows customers and
prospects to easily identify your business/products which is a factor in
whether someone will choose to become a customer.

Documentation

Software documentation is different because it serves a dual purpose.

Users refer to developer documentation when implementing software in their organisation and developers use documentation to record the software development process.

User Manual
